Believable: When Life Is Hard, God Is Good
Life doesn’t always unfold the way we hoped. There are seasons of loss, uncertainty, exhaustion, and questions we never expected to ask. In those moments, faith can feel fragile and God’s goodness can feel distant. But what if His goodness is not dependent on our circumstances? What if blessing still exists in hardship, worship still strengthens the weary, beauty still breaks through brokenness, joy still runs deeper than sorrow, faith still holds in weakness, and hope still anchors the future? Let’s rediscover what is still true when everything else feels shaken. When life is hard, God is still good, and that truth is believable.
4.12 – Week 1 – God Is Good!
Is God still good when life is not?
James 1:16-18; Psalm 23
When life shifts, when prayers feel unanswered, when stability disappears, we’re left wondering what is still true. At the center of our faith is this unshakable reality: God’s goodness does not rise and fall with our circumstances. Hard seasons may test our understanding, but they cannot change His character. If God is good, then even this season is not without purpose.
4.19 – Week 2 – Blessings Are Real!
Are there still blessings when I feel overwhelmed?
Ephesians 1:3-14; 2 Corinthians 12:7b-10
In difficult seasons, it’s easy to assume blessing has left the room. Yet sometimes the most meaningful gifts of God show up quietly – strength for today, peace in the storm, people who carry us when we’re weak. Blessing is not always loud or visible, but it is real. Even in hardship, God is still providing what we need most.
4.26 – Week 3 – Worship Is a Gift!
Is it worth it to worship when I’m hurting?
Job 1 (specifically vv. 20-22); Psalm 42
Pain can silence us. Disappointment can make praise feel distant. But worship is not reserved for easy days, it becomes most powerful in the hard ones. When we lift our eyes in the middle of struggle, something shifts inside us. Worship reminds us that our story is bigger than our suffering and that God is still worthy, still near, and still working.
5.3 – Week 4 – Creation Is Beautiful!
Can I still see beauty when my world feels broken?
Romans 8:18-25; Colossians 1:15-20; Psalm 8
Heartbreak has a way of narrowing our vision. But even in a fractured world, beauty keeps breaking through in places like the skies above us, in the rhythms of nature, in simple moments of grace. Creation stands as a quiet witness that darkness does not erase God’s design. When life feels shattered, beauty reminds us that God’s goodness still surrounds us.
5.10 – Week 5 – Joy Is Present!
Is it possible to have joy while I’m grieving?
John 16:16-24; James 1:2-4; Philippians 4:4-7
Joy is often misunderstood as constant happiness. But real joy runs deeper than an emotion. It can exist alongside tears. It can steady us when everything else feels uncertain. Joy is not denial of pain; it is confidence that pain is not permanent. Even in sorrow, God plants something strong and sustaining within us.
5.17 – Week 6 – Faith Is Strong!
Is my faith enough when I feel weak?
2 Corinthians 4:7-18; Psalm 56:3-4
There are seasons when faith feels confident and bold, and others when it feels fragile and thin. But our faith is not measured by how impressive it looks. It is measured by where it rests. Even trembling trust can hold onto a faithful God. When life is hard, strong faith is simply refusing to let go.
5.24 – Week 7 – Hope Holds!
Will this suffering have the final word?
1 Peter 1:3-13; Revelation 21:1-5
Suffering can feel loud and immediate. But it is not ultimate. The story God is writing is bigger than this chapter. Hope anchors us in what is coming, not just in what is happening. When life is hard, hope reminds us that the end of the story is restoration, renewal, and joy that cannot be taken away.
